As I lead the city in addressing each priority, the following principles will guide my efforts: Collaborate – The only way we are going to make progress in Murray is to continue an ongoing effort to work together. No one has more experience than I do in bringing a diverse group of people and organizations together to implement effective plans for progress. As mayor of Murray, I will ensure that:
Put Community Interests First – In today’s complex political environment, there are many special-interest groups that have been formed to advocate on behalf of their members. While I respect these organization’s rights and understand their purpose, I believe it is imperative that the mayor of Murray be completely neutral and free from influence of single-interest organizations. No one will work harder than I will to gather all stakeholders and invite input from all community voices. As the mayor of Murray, I will consider all input and respond based on what is best for the entire community. Practice Fiscal Discipline – For thirty years, I have managed budgets for business, local government and many non-profit and community based organizations. I know what it is to have limited funds and to make every dollar count. I am adamant about being efficient and prudent with the money entrusted to City Hall by our citizens. If there is a way to accomplish more for the citizens of Murray, with less; then I will find it! With difficult state budgets looming ahead, it is more important than ever to retain a commitment to fiscal discipline. Get Results! Murray needs a “get it done” mayor. Thanks to the hard work of many, the stage is set to make lasting progress with jobs, public safety, neighborhood revitalization, responsive government and major regional issues. However, it’s going to take a leader who brings people together and gets things done. That’s exactly the experience I bring to the table. We have a very special window of opportunity in Murray right now. As mayor of Murray, I will ensure the work is done to realize that opportunity for all our people..
